viruses that run rampant on the internet for PC’s. These are short reviews and web links to the best
free anti-spyware, anti-malware and anti-virus software online. There are also links for registry cleaners and optimizing programs. Some of these programs require computer experience and savvy. Please do not attempt to use any of these programs if you are not familiar enough with computers to know what you are doing.
AVG Free
This is a standard free antivirus that works well. You can upgrade to a paid version. However, if you need serious protection it is recommended that you purchase Norton Antivirus.
SbyBot Search & Destroy
This is a killer anti-spyware and anti-malware program that will get rid if more difficult infections that prevents downloading of such software. It will also terminate redirect infections.
Malwarebytes
This is yet another anti-spyware or anti-malware program that can monitor your computer in real time. It can also be set to run scheduled scans, updates and set to deal with threats automatically. You can upgrade to a paid version.
ComboFix
Here is a most effective program that can deal with some serious infections. This is a more sophisticated program and it will also make changes or deletions in your registry. It will fix registry problems, optimize your computers performance and eradicate malicious infections.
File Assassin
This is a simple program designed to remove files that cannot be deleted. It will also find hidden files and help you terminate infected files that cannot otherwise be removed.
Crap Cleaner
This is a full service computer optimizer and registry cleaner. It can help restore performance to computers that have never been optimized.
Malicious Software Tip!
It is recommended that you download these antivirus programs to a computer that is not infected. You can download them to a thumb drive which can then be used on the infected computer. Before using the programs on the thumb drive to clean the infected computer, change the file names of the antivirus software. Most malicious software will recognize the software developer’s original file name and block the application from running. They can also prevent you from downloading this type of software from the internet by redirecting. That’s why the downloading to a non infected computer onto a thumb drive and renaming the files is necessary to remove more serious infections. Good luck!
Always remember to regularly dump temporary files including cookies and internet files. It may also be helpful to defrag your hard drive at least twice a year perhaps more.
